To Color or not to Color

Colored Jeans have been introduced in the past few seasons and though they aren't popular yet in my area, it's only a matter of time before they hit. My quandry is whether colored jeans are actually cute and stylish, or if they are one of those trends that I will look back on and think, "I can't believe I wore that."

These colors are very fun and playful, but I think I find they may be too vibrant for my lower half. The blue is by Ksubi and the pink is by Couture Candy.

I think the red and yellow would be fun for going out.

I think the darker, less vibrant colors, like this deep green pair from Dittos and plum pair from Cassette, would be much easier to wear for everyday.

What's your take on colored jeans?

Project Runway 4!

The new season of Project Runway began this week and I, for one, am very excited. Though my excitement stems from my experience with past seasons rather than the designs brought to the runway in the first episode.

This dress, designed by Rami, a 31 year old native of West Bank, was the challenge winner. The dress was beautifully draped and obviously the judges favorite.

I was not completely in love. Yes it's a beautiful dress, but it has no wow for me personally.

This outfit was another favorite of the judges. It was done by 21 year old Christian who studied fashion at The American Intercontinental University in London.

I'm not a fan of the color for a statement making ensemble, but it is very wearable and attractive.

This is the dress and jacket that made 32 year old designer Simone the first to hear auf wiedersehen from Heidi.

The construction was not technically up to par with the other designers and looked rather boring on the runway.

I would have prefered the removal of Elisa. The basic dress was not bad, but I can't see her personality allowing her to be successful in the fashion industry and the monstrosity that was the tale of her dress (Heidi said it looked like her model was "pooing" fabric.) wasted some of the most interesting and beautiful fabrics.

The return of Tim Gunn is also exciting. Though he does have his own Bravo show now, I still enjoy him most in his role as advisor and mentor for the fledgling designers.

I just need a good pair of jeans...

Getting dressed this morning I found myself looking through my selection of jeans: dark and skinny, high waisted, wide legged, black, white (don't worry they're not in use right now)... but all I wanted to put on was a pair of regular jeans. You know, the kind that does wonders for your backside, is amazingly comfortable, and can be worn with anything. Finally I found my old pair of Silver jeans in the very back of my closet. Here's my wishlist for great jeans hopefully to be acquired in the very near future:

Rock & Republic Kasandra Jean in Stellar Blue Nickel

(as far as I'm concerned R&R can do no wrong)

It's raining, It's Pouring...

Under normal circumstances the perfect fix for a cold and rainy day involves sweatpants, my favorite hoodie, and a cup of hot chocolate, but today I have an Italian quiz, a presentation to give, and to study for the test of my life tomorrow so staying in bed all afternoon is out of the question.

The treck across my very wet campus would be much more bearable though if I had the right equipment. Here's my wishlist to stay dry (and chic) on rainy days.

Burberry Women's Canvas Trench

Pasotti Swarovski Crystal Umbrella

Jeffrey Campbell Women's Welly Rain Boots

J. Crew Wellies w/ laces
(because I have a strange wish to look like the morton salt girl)

Jackets

A recent inventory of my closet has reinforced the fact that I am obsessed with jackets. My very favorites at the moment: a brown leather fitted bikeresque jacket, a deep yellow cotton with 3/4 sleeves, and a military green with an embroidered flower on the back and a belted waist. Knowing that I have plenty of them and that my tiny dorm room closet is about to bust does not however deter me from having a wishlist of great jackets to add to my collection. Here are a few of my top picks for fall:

Antonio Berardi tweed coat

Balmain cotton and silk jacket

Rock & Republic leather and fur trim canvas jacket

shoplaurenconrad.com

I've been hearing a lot lately about the new line put out by Lauren Conrad from MTV's "The Hills" so I decided to check it out. I was a little skeptical as I opened the website, shoplaurenconrad.com, because you never really know what kind of quality you're going to get from celebrity ventures.

I found the clothes to be very cute and flirty, but nothing we haven't seen before. She's covered all the bases needed for a young girl's social life, and I have to give her props for good styling, but I thought the collection lacked life.

I'm sure she'll find more of a voice in her upcoming collections though. We can't expect her to shock and awe on her first try no matter how many reality show hours she's logged.

The pieces are all named after girls, two of which are close friends of the Lauren on the Hills.

The white is the Audrina Dress ($150) and the blue is the Lo Dress ($130).

Check out the collection and let me know what you think.

Fashionable Beginnings

My love of fashion borders a little on obsession, so, in my quest to make fashion my career, and give me another excuse to talk about clothes, I am starting a fashion blog. For my very first post, I'll give you a little taste of my taste.

This is my wish list for fall:

Because I'm a college student (and I rarely wake up more than 20 minutes before class), I'm always looking for pieces that are quick and comfortable, but effortlessly stylish at the same time. These patent buckle flats from Giuseppe Zanotti are perfect for looking collegiate and cute, and won't kill my feet trekking between classes. Jeans are a staple of my wardrobe, and a few months ago I tried on the Chip and Pepper Slyder Skinny Jeans in the middle and fell in love with them. I've been kicking myself ever since for not getting them so I've decided to rectify the situation and make sure they end up in my closet this season. The Trovata Beacon double wool short jacket is perfect for chilly fall days.

The LAMB oxford pumps get me excited about attending interviews and career fairs (it's funny how footwear can have that effect), and the velvet Noreen dress is fun for any special occasion that might happen to come up. The black riding boots from Delia's will look great with skinny jeans or tights and add an extra layer against the cold fall and winter, and the Trovata Barret French terry dress is cute and easy to throw on when I'm running late.

What are you wishing for this fall?
